A beekeepers rant...
A recent story published by American Council on Science and Health claiming the bee-pocalypse isn't real, does not address the real problem. The paper states that although Beekeepers lose 33% of their colonies every year is easily regained by doing splits.
Yes, Beekeepers can make up new colonies from their survivor stock. But, it's not easy and it is not cheap.
Here is the real deal, this paper only addresses MANAGED colonies and not feral colonies. Wild Honey Bee colonies do not have a beekeeper to make up the losses.
Just think about it for a moment, is there a beekeeper in every neighborhood in America. The answer in NO.
So then, where all the Honey Bees that pollinate your shrubs, trees and gardens come from. You got is, wild Honey Bee colonies.
Wild Honey Bees are subject to the same causes of Honey Bee decline as managed colonies. But no one is talking about them.
The most important pollinator on the planet, Wild honey Bees have no beekeeper to protect them from Pesticides, herbicides, Varroa mites or even exterminators.
Without the Wild Honey Bee our local ecosystem would collapse. These are the Bees IRescueBees and our associates strive to protect. Bee Removal Mesa AZ
